There is a tension many of us feel when we pray for others. We want to ask boldly. We also don’t want to control outcomes. So we end up drifting toward one of two extremes: We become passive — “whatever happens…” Or we become controlling — “make this happen…” Scripture does neither.    What if one of the most common Christian phrases is true, but still too small? Many of us grew up hearing that the Christian hope is simple: when you die, you go to heaven. There is something true in that. Scripture gives real comfort that those who belong to Christ are safe with him. But that is not the whole story.
